Denmark, Sweden, Norway: Day 14 - Bergen, Norway to Copenhagen, Denmark

We woke up in Bergen to another rainy day, but thankfully, just sprinkling. We decided to explore a little and go to a different place for breakfast, the Godt Brød Christie Café, inside the Natural History Museum of Bergen. The landscaped grounds outside were lovely.

After a nice cappuccino and cornetto, we ventured back out into the drizzle and enjoyed the lovely architecture...
... and manicured streetscapes as we made our way back to the Citybox Bergen.
We relaxed for a bit and ultimately grabbed packed bags and used the public transportation to make our way to the airport where we hopped on a 3pm Norwegian Air flight (~ 1 hour) to Copenhagen, Denmark.
It's great to see bikes so integrated and accommodated on public transportation!
We made it to Copenhagen around 4:30 and conveniently checked into the Clarion Hotel next to the airport.  The hotel was a step up from our usual accommodations, but its location (connected by a breezeway) would allow us to store our bags to the last minute before making the 5 minute walk to check in for our flight home.

After dumping our bags in the hotel, we headed back into Copenhagen for another enchanted evening in Tivoli Gardens.

We passed the memorial to Niels Henrik Volkersen, the first leader of the Tivoli Youth Guard, a band that famously parades around the grounds.
Unfortunately, we did not get to see them :(

On our way to the beer garden to get some dinner, we passed the beautiful Chinese pagoda.
Even in threatening weather, the lake is a popular attraction.
At the beer garden we got some food, and of course Carlsburg beer ("probably the best beer in the world"), but Lars was holding out for hotdogs and waffles.

The lights are lit at 7pm, but it's still not dark at that time during the Scandinavian mid-summer.  In my imagination, and even in reality, still lovely.
A tiled tribute to Tivoli's 150th anniversary...
You notice new things each time.

We found a place to get waffles and took full advantage of the blankets to ward of the soggy, cool weather.
Continuing to wander around the park, we stumbled across a Josef concert, and we lingered to give our force to the energized youth...
... jumping up and down (us too!)...
... and bellowing out the lyrics to his songs (not us, ha!)
We found a traditional hotdog vendor, which made Lars very happy.
The hotdogs are not like American hotdogs - the dog is thinner and 2-3 times longer, sticking way out of the bun.  It's eaten separately and both the dog and the bun are dipped in a mustard sauce.  Yummy.  We got some beers in commemorative Tivoli cups and I scavenged some left-behinds so that we would have a complete set.

As we walked by the game-of-chance booths, we had to make a go of the water gun steeple-chase challenge.  With the four of use, surely, one of us would win?
Nope!  We were outdone by the cat-like reflexes and steady hand of a youngster! Ah well, it was still a memorable night with friends!

Tivoli - check!
Waffles - check!
Hot dogs and beer - check!
Big fun - check!
We completed our loop around Tivoli at about 9 pm and then caught the train back to our airport hotel for some well-deserved sleep.
